I had many takeaways from living in Jordan, but one especially stands out. For the first time, I realized the divine purpose that visual media can have. I was able to share my own perspective of Arabs and their homeland with my American audience on Instagram and the CIEE website—one that was vastly different from the violent, hyper-conservative, and “sandy” images they were used to seeing on the news. Instead, it was one that celebrated the ways in which God’s glory is reflected in His vibrant people and diverse landscapes of MENA nations. This had many of my friends trading in their fear of the region for a longing to experience it themselves.
